Do you often feel tired in the morning even after a long sleep? The problem might be your sleep cycle. A good night’s sleep isn’t just about how long you sleep, but also when you sleep.
Our bodies follow a natural clock called the circadian rhythm (昼夜节律). It tells us when to feel awake and when to feel sleepy. Light, especially sunlight, helps set this clock. Using phones or computers before bed can trick your brain into thinking it’s still daytime, making it harder to fall asleep.
Sleep happens in cycles, each about 90 minutes long. Each cycle includes light sleep, deep sleep, and REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, when we dream. Waking up during deep sleep makes you feel groggy (昏昏沉沉的). Waking up at the end of a cycle, during light sleep, makes you feel more refreshed.
To improve your sleep, try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends. Make your bedroom dark, quiet, and cool. Avoid caffeine (咖啡因) in the afternoon and evening. Stop using electronic devices at least one hour before bedtime.
31. What is the main idea of the first paragraph?
A. How to sleep longer. B. The importance of sleep cycles.

A. Food. B. Exercise. C. Light. D. Noise.
33. Why is it bad to use phones before bed?

C. They can trick our brains. D. They are not interesting.
34. In which sleep stage do we dream?
A. Light sleep. B. Deep sleep. C. REM sleep. D. The beginning of sleep.
35. Which is NOT a tip for better sleep from the passage?
A. Keep a regular sleep schedule. B. Make your bedroom comfortable.
C. Drink coffee before bed. D. Avoid electronics before sleep.

Recycling is one way to protect our environment, but it’s not the only way, and it’s not always the best way. The three Rs — Reduce, Reuse, Recycle — are in that order for a reason.
Reduce means using less. This is the most effective way. For example, bring your own shopping bag instead of using plastic ones. Turn off lights when you leave a room.
Reuse means finding new uses for old things. An old glass jar can become a pencil holder. Old clothes can be turned into bags or cleaning rags.
Recycle means turning waste into new materials. Paper, glass, and some plastics can be recycled. But recycling uses energy and water. Some things, like plastic bags, are hard to recycle.
So, remember: first, try to reduce what you use. Then, see if you can reuse it. Finally, if you can’t reduce or reuse, then recycle it. By following these steps, we can all help create less waste and a cleaner planet.
41. What is the main topic of the passage?
A. How to recycle different materials. B. The importance of the three Rs.
C. The history of recycling. D. Problems with plastic bags.
42. Why is “Reduce” considered the best way according to the passage?
A. It’s the easiest. B. It’s the most effective.
C. It saves money. D. Everyone can do it.
43. Which of the following is an example of “Reuse”?
A. Using a paper cup once. B. Throwing away an old bottle.
C. Making a toy from a box. D. Putting newspapers in a recycling bin.
44. What is a disadvantage of recycling mentioned in the passage?
A. It costs too much money. B. It uses energy and water.
C. It is not good for the air. D. It creates more jobs.
45. What is the correct order of the three Rs from best to good?
A. Reuse-Recycle-Reduce B. Recycle-Reuse-Reduce
C. Reduce-Reuse-Recycle D. Reduce-Recycle-Reuse

Have you heard of “plogging”? It is a new fitness trend that started in Sweden. The word comes from the Swedish “plocka upp” (pick up) and “jogging”. So, plogging means picking up litter while jogging.
Ploggers carry a bag and gloves when they run. When they see trash like plastic bottles, cans, or wrappers on the ground, they stop to pick it up. It’s a simple way to combine exercise with environmental protection.
This activity is becoming popular around the world. Many people find it more meaningful than just running. It makes them feel good because they are not only improving their health but also making their community cleaner. Some schools have even organized plogging events for students.
You don’t have to be a fast runner to go plogging. You can walk and pick up trash. The important thing is to start. Why not try plogging with your friends this weekend? Remember to wear gloves for safety.
46. Where did “plogging” start?
A. In the UK. B. In Sweden. C. In the USA. D. In China.

An Important Choice I Made
Last year, I faced an important choice: whether to join the school volunteer club or the basketball club. I love basketball, but I finally chose the volunteer club. I made this choice because I wanted to help others and learn about society.
Since joining the club, I have visited an elderly home and helped clean up a park. These experiences have made me more responsible and caring. I have met many kind people and learned the value of teamwork. Although I sometimes miss playing basketball, I never regret my choice because it has helped me grow as a person.
